Melissa Rolfes Art
Surface Pattern Portfolio

I fell in love with art, stationery, and fabric at a young age. I collected stickers, floral covered notebooks, small bits of fabric, ribbon, and a
medley of craft items. My first job in high school landed me in the fabric department of a local department store where I learned a great deal
about different kinds fabric. I eventually taught myself how to sew and
I’ve sewn on and off for years with a myriad of craft and home improvement projects along the way. I never thought about making patterns for my fabric myself until a few years ago when I was introduced to surface pattern design. It has been an eye opening experience and
I have fallen in love with making art again. I love experimenting and
I always have more ideas than time, but I'm making progress one collection at a time.

Pattern Collections

My inspiration for this collection of patterns came from my deep love for plants, sunshine,
and the eclectic, upbeat vibe of boho style. There is a little bit of whimsy, a touch
of geometry, a sprinkle of texture, and a ton of positive vibes.

These designs dive into the essence of Fall-falling leaves, sticks, stalks, and seeds-but fun and colorful enough to be used year round for lovers of nature and the outdoors.

Leaves, florals, plants in pots, whimsy, and fun all rolled into one collection. Dive into the fun following the movement of the patterns as they dance across the page.
