#71 Finding Joy and Peace Through Living with Intention

Everywhere we look, life seems to be moving at lightning speed. People are rushing from one commitment to the next, juggling endless responsibilities, and measuring success by how much they can cram into a single day. Yet underneath all this “busyness,” many of us feel stressed, exhausted, and disconnected from ourselves. I know this feeling well—I lived it for years. Slowly, though, I began making small changes, and what I discovered was eye-opening. By living more intentionally—choosing where I put my time, energy, and resources—I started to feel grounded, calm, and more at peace with myself and my life. Setting boundaries, saying “no” when needed, and showing up authentically allowed me to rediscover joy in ways I hadn’t experienced in years. The truth is: you do have a choice. You can step off the hamster wheel of busyness and live a life aligned with your values, filled with purpose and peace.

The Benefits of Setting Intentions

Intentions are different from goals. While goals are future-oriented and often achievement-based, intentions are about how you want to live and show up right now. They guide your mindset, your energy, and your presence in the moment.

By practicing intentional living, you:

  • Gain clarity about what matters most to you

  • Manage your time and energy with more ease

  • Make decisions aligned with your values

  • Reduce overwhelm and distractions

  • Strengthen relationships and de-escalate conflicts

  • Build trust in yourself

  • Foster gratitude, peace, and fulfillment

How to Brainstorm and Craft Intentions

Crafting an intention starts with reflection. Ask yourself questions like:

  • What matters most to me right now?

  • How do I want to show up for myself and others?

  • What do I need to release in order to feel more peace?

  • What kind of energy do I want to bring into the world?

Once you’ve reflected, write down a few intentions. Keep them simple and meaningful.

For example:

  • “I intend to approach each day with patience and curiosity.”

  • “I intend to give myself permission to rest without guilt.”

  • “I intend to listen more deeply in my relationships.”

Intentions should be dynamic—something that grows with you, inspires action, and motivates you to live with greater alignment.

Aligning Intentions with Joy and Peace

Joy is deeper than fleeting happiness. Happiness is often tied to circumstances, but joy is rooted in the soul.

  • Joy transcends circumstances—it can endure through hardship.

  • Joy embraces peace and contentment—it’s the quiet knowing that you are enough, and life is enough, in this moment.

  • Joy is a practice—something to nourish daily, not a one-time achievement.

  • Joy connects you to meaning and purpose—it helps you see beauty even in life’s challenges.

When you set intentions that reflect your deepest values, you create space for joy. You move from reacting to life to choosing how you experience it.

Finding Peace in Action

Intentions are not passive—they guide your behavior and choices. When you live intentionally, you begin to find peace in action itself. It’s not about perfection or ticking boxes on a to-do list. It’s about finding joy in the process, whether you’re having a conversation, working on a project, or simply breathing in the morning air. Over time, intentional living alleviates doubt, inspires hope, and builds trust in yourself. And from that trust grows peace—peace that isn’t shaken by external noise, but rooted in who you are and how you choose to live.

Choosing Intention, Choosing Joy

The beauty of intentional living is that it reminds us of our power. You have choices—about who you spend time with, what you say yes or no to, where your energy goes, and how you show up each day. When you align those choices with your values, you begin to cultivate not just peace, but lasting joy. Living intentionally sharpens your focus, improves your thinking, and reduces stress. It brings you back home to yourself. And in that grounded place, joy flows more freely, not as a fleeting moment, but as a steady, enduring presence. So I encourage you: pause, breathe, and ask yourself—what intention do I want to live with today? That small choice

might just be the doorway to the peace and joy you’ve been searching for.
